Alter Bridge's New Album: A Reflection of Their Legacy
Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge recently sat down with Loudwire Nights to discuss the band's self-titled, and highly anticipated, new album. This record, the band's eighth full-length release, is a defining moment. But what makes this album so special?
Kennedy shared that the band is thrilled with the final product and eager to share it with their fanbase. He admitted that the pressure of releasing new music has lessened over time.
"When you're young, it's your record and there is anxiety and you have high hopes," he said. "At this stage, I think we're just so grateful to have developed a fanbase. [We] put out new music and hope that they like it so that we can continue to do what we do."
He explained that early in a musician's career, a poorly received album could be devastating. Now, he's just happy to share their work with their dedicated audience.
A Sonic Snapshot of Alter Bridge
This self-titled album is a deliberate choice, marking a culmination of the band's established sound.
"We were aware that a lot of the sonic hallmarks that we've maintained throughout our career ā we leaned into that on this," Kennedy explained. "We're not really pushing into any experimental, like, oh we're going to add some '80s synth here, we're going to do this arrangement here."
This approach makes the album a pure representation of Alter Bridge's identity.
"This is kind of what we've been known for," he said. "So here we are, here's an assortment of tracks really kind of defining that at this stage, on album number eight."
More from the Interview
During the interview, Kennedy also discussed:
- The creation of the album's closing track, "Slave to Master," a nine-minute epic. The song evolved from an initial four-minute demo.
- New music with Slash and the Conspirators, with Kennedy having recorded his vocals in August 2025. He expressed excitement about the project.
- A memorable experience of Charlie Sheen attending a Conspirators show in Ireland. Kennedy recalled Sheen's passionate engagement with the performance.
